The original FG-A alarm unit was extremely compact and awkward to wire. The following 3 versions of the panel used a larger enclosure making wiring easier.
When Connected to either FG-ECX or FG-HC2 sensing cables the unit will detect the presence of conductive liquids or Hydrocarbons. The contact of a conductive liquid with the sensing cable triggers an audible and visual alarm and activates relay contacts on the FG-A alarm unit. The FG-A monitors the sensing circuit for leaks and leak detected and utilised individual LED’s to indicate the type of alarm detected.
The FG-A alarm unit would normally be used for the protection of small computer and Comms rooms or other technical or plant areas.
Under-window air-conditioning units, fan-convectors reservoirs, pumps, siphons, tanks and drip trays etc. would have been the main applications of an early FG-A leak detection system.
